Today we took part in an illegal flashmob. Not illegal in any true sense of the word, it just hadn’t been sanctioned by the draconian UNFCCC secretariat. The flashmob was, as you’ll see in the video, simply a little sing-song. Passers-by joined in to clap and sing an adapted version of the famous song “Shosoloza” to show support for the African common position. That position, as elaborated in an earlier post, is by far the most ambitious, the position with the most urgency and sense of reality. We wanted to remind African politicians of their position, in the face of mounting pressure from the EU to split the group.
It was a decent warm up, but Durban is far from over and we are far from done. Watch this space, the last stand awaits.
